| Writer's Block: Secret Ballot |
[04 Nov 2008|09:20am] |
I got my ass out of bed at 7:45 to go vote. Walked twenty minutes, and didn't wait in any lines. It was awesome. I got my ballot, voted, and was back at my apartment at 8:45. I was expecting to wait in crazy long lines, and one of the voting proctors almost shit a brick when some girl had two ballots (one of them was "spoiled"), but other than that it wasn't exciting. I did get a free sticker though. Woot woot!

Oh yeah, so there was a shooting at Southcenter on Wednesday night while I was working. Kind of forgot to the mention that. It was really fucking scary, because none of us had any idea what was going on... We play our music so loud that we can't really hear anything else going on, but all of a sudden there is a stampede of people running to the mall exit and one of the guys I work with yells "THERE WAS A SHOOTING!"
Of course, being the smart person I am, I went to the front to see what the fuck was going on, and people were so scared that they ran right out of their shoes... Everyone working was a little frantic and luckily my manager was there (KC never stays past 4 or 5 but we were supposed to do inventory that night so he came in late) so he herded us all to the back of the store.. Mall security came by and told us to lock the door and turn off the lights, so we all just stood around and waited.
The shooting happened at 8:15. Police started letting people out at 9ish again and so there was another stampede of people rushing to the exit, and then apparently one of the shooters was in Johnny Rockets and he scared everyone so they locked down the mall again.
We were supposed to be doing inventory that night so there were 9ish people at Zumiez as opposed to the normal 3... And half of the people from the inventory company were there, but the rest of them couldn't get in because the SWAT team wasn't letting anybody in or out. We had been getting ready to do inventory for two weeks and they had to stop because there was no way they could do it all with only four of them. What a waste.
Anywho, Ryan and Patrick were standing by the door and some dude walks by and Ryan asks him what's going on.. He says he has no idea. Then he sees the cops and runs. Apparently he tried to ditch his gun in a trash can in the mall and people saw him and yelled for the police, so he got arrested.. Not sure if he was the guy who did it, though. It seems like Foot Locker is a little bit of a jog from Johnny Rockets. I mean, it's Southcenter.. Everybody has a gun.
At around 10 Ryan runs to the back of the store and starts yelling because the SWAT team was creepin around with their M16s and it scared the shit out of him. One of the guys comes to our gate and says in a very stern tone "ARE YOU READY TO LEAVE RIGHT NOW?" I say "YES" and he lets us out.
I walk to the area my car is in to find that.. OH it's parked RIGHT NEXT TO JOHNNY ROCKETS and that area was swarming with TV stations and cop cars. I stood around for another 40 minutes with some random people and finally a policeman escorts me to my car. He tells me not to come back for any reason and I say "HELLLLL NO" and he laughs and I get in my car and drive away.
Welcome to Southcenter.
And now for the pictures:

BIG ASS GUN. Notice the guys getting patted down in the background.
